A trip to the "theatre"

When we visited Dad and Mom Greene in Kenya, I followed Dad (an orthopedic surgeon) around the hospital and watched three operations - two broken femurs (thigh bones) and one broken humerus (upper arm bone). It is absolutely amazing what those doctors are capable of. Dad pointed to the x-ray of the humerus and said “Humpty Dumpty”. It wasn't a bad comparison. But after the ortho team re-oriented the bones and installed the titanium plates around the bone with screws, the arm and the x-rays looked perfect. Incredible.

While we were in the operating room ("theatre" is what they call it in this part of the world), Mom brought Em and the kids up to see. There wasn't much to see from the doorway, and in fact I'm not sure the kids knew there was a person under all the drapes, but they very much liked seeing Dad and Grandpa all dressed up with masks and funny hats.
