Snow Trip!

We just got back from a fun trip to the snow! It was Jonathan and Evelyn's first and coldest experience of their lives. We stayed at the John Muir Lodge in King's Canyon/Sequoia National Park. Here's a photo story of our trip...

"Look! Snow!!" (After being on the road for 4 hours)

Tire Chains: How do you put these things on??

At the lodge...getting ready for our first snow play!
Making snow balls....

and snow angels.

After 30 min: "My feet hurt! I don't like snow! I want to go to bed!"

The next day...
Jonathan was up and excited to play in the snow again. We went for a hike to see some beautiful sequoias and then went sledding. We were going to make a snowman, but Jonathan could only last so long in those rubber boots. Plus, the snow wasn't really the snowman-making type.

Jonathan and Evelyn had a strenuous hike through the redwoods.

Famous General Grant tree. Second largest tree in the world and guessed to be about 1,650 years old. (We were going to try to see the largest tree, General Sherman, but the road was closed due to weather conditions.)

Gamlin Cabin built in 1872

Jonathan's favorite part of the trip was sledding with Daddy. I love this picture because it shows how much padding he has on, "I can't put my arms down!!"

Guess who?

Here's a picture of Phil I found the other day. I can't get over how much it looks like Jonathan!

Evelyn Crawling.

First Day of Christmas Vacation!!

This year we've decided to stay home for the holidays and enjoy our little family and this beautiful town we live in. We are so excited to finally be on vacation! Tonight we ventured out to see Santa in the Mission Plaza, but the sign on his door said that he was at the North Pole until tomorrow. Fortunately there was also a carousel! Jonathan had a blast - Phil said he was laughing almost the whole time he rode. Then we walked downtown to get a hot chocolate at Barnes and Noble (Jonathan ran all the way shouting, "I love hot chocolate!!") and read some Christmas books. What a fun way to start this Christmas celebration!

Getting in the car to see Santa!

Here's Santa's house; he's not home! Jonathan was going to ask for racecars!

Lucky us! The carousel was open!

"Hi Mom! Hi Evelyn!"

Eva liked watching all the lights...

and reading all the books!

Walking back to the car - what a fun night!
